Sometimes free isn't as free as it might appear. I've looked into several schools over the years that said it's "free" and almost always there was some fee for something. Sometimes the fees were little and at other times expensive. I like the idea of free education, but, it rarely seems to be for real. But what the hey. It doesn't cost to look. If it turns out to smell Bearish you can always run.

I haven't vetted this organization completely but
isn't this concept being done much better here?

Caveat emptor - they don't actually pay faculty - the discussion goes something like this -

WEU "We will pay you a percent of future ad revenue your course will generate."

Instructor: "Benefits"

WEU: None

Instructor: "What ad revenue"

WEU: "The future ad revenue."

So for all their talk about ethics; they are willing to pay essentially nothing but promises for work?

No, that is not true. They are consistently saying they have been awarded degree-granting status in California. E.g.:

Quote:WEU is authorized to operate as a degree granting institution of higher education and is exempt from the California Private Post-Secondary Act of 2009.

This would appear to be a false statement. As much as we like to see new players in the marketplace and innovation in education, we dislike people who aren't truthful. If they aren't forthcoming about basic and easily verifiable facts, what else are they misrepresenting?

If I were you I would take those paychecks to the drawer's bank and cash them, rather than deposit them and wait for them to clear. You might be in for an unpleasant surprise otherwise. Understand the difference between a team player and a kamikaze.

As a founding investor and a former friend of the true founder of WEU, Curtis E Pickering I am in search of all past employees, contractors and investors of World Education University - WEU. Especially those who are owed money. WEU is a brilliant concept which was poorly managed by Pickering. I welcome all emails regarding Pickering and WEU - theWEUtruth@gmail.com
