Is the WAUC dead?

Their website is no longer active: www.waucglobalaccreditation.org

I confess to not paying the greatest of attention lately so this may be old news, but if not here it is.

Cached version shows it was available as of June 23, 2009.

Site might just be down for maintenance.  Or Maxine might be down for maintenance.

I guess we'll have to wait and see. WAUC has always been at heart of controversy at the other forums, but it began to rub me the wrong way when accredited schools were asked to pay a $50 "seal" to go on their diplomas so the diplomas could be "... traced through the WAUC." Nonsense.

Cool
Yes the http://www.wacuglobalaccreditation.org site is dead. But not the new http://waucinternationalaccreditation.com site is up and running. I attended a school that was accredited by W.A.C.U. and after i graduated found out that my great state of New York wouldn't accept my teaching degree from that school.Cool

The notion of a legit accreditation agency that isn't in bed with the government is a good one, particularly if they actually have objective, enforced quality standards (unlike the current situation with the regionals).

WAUC has always been criticized as simply a pay to play operation, but there may still be a few alternatives out there:

National Association of Private Nontraditional Schools and Colleges--their website is down so they may be out of business.  Proclaimed as legit by Klempner himself, but multiple applications for government recognition rejected.  Wikipedia page still active.

National Private Schools Accreditation Alliance--DETC applicant Institute of Business & Finance once claimed (and may still claim) this as their accreditor.

American Council on Private School Accreditation--claims to be "licensed in the State of New York to offer accreditation services."

Any others that aren't obvious shams?

We are properly licensed to offer private school accreditation in the state of new york. That is because new york has no governmental body accrediting private schools. Its up to the ACPSA agency to accredit online private high schools, colleges, Universities, and Career Schools World Wide. We have been around since 1989.

So I assume from your use of the term "we" that you are affiliated in some way with ACPSA.  It's great to have someone available with first hand knowledge.  Please help us understand a little more about what you do:

Quote:There are a lot of institutions who have been accredited by ACPSA.

Can you tell us the names of some (or any) of the colleges or universities that ACPSA accredits?

Quote:The ACPSA Accrediting Commission Chair appoints all standing committees.
http://www.acpsa.us/About_us.php

The Accrediting Commission Chair seems to have a lot of important responsibilities.  Can you tell us the name and qualifications of the person who currently holds that position?

Quote:With its highly refined and recognized accreditation program, ACPSA offers distance learning institutions the most current, relevant and practical services for the 21st century.

By whom is the ACPSA program recognized?

We aren't the spelling police here, but you might want to remember to spell "Christian" correctly next time you mention those two doctorates.
