Klempner has been on about these honorary degrees for years. Since they are frequently (if not always) awarded in conjunction with some direct donation or less direct fund-raising effort, there is a definite "pay to play" quality about them. If an unaccredited school did it the klones would be kvetching and grepsing all over themselves. But is it any surprise that the vaunted Gold Standard operates like a two dolla ho? And it's a safe bet that when Tufts took back their fake degree they didn't send back any of the money that bought it.
