Implicit in Klempner's little stalker report is the notion that because an online school maintains a modest office that this is somehow an indication of "less-than-wonderful" status.

You would think that a guy who wrote like 97 books on the topic might have figured out by now that the beauty of distance learning is that you don't need a taxpayer-funded 10000 acre campus with lavish buildings, football stadiums, student unions, faculty lounges and parking lots.

Typical sleazy Klempner cheap shot. What's next, crank calls to the wives of all the school's admins? Then the klones molotov the place? More of those union goon tactics he finds so "delightful."

What has California Pacific done to deserve this scrutiny?

Are they doing something illegal? No, fully approved by the State of California, and have been since 1977.

Do they have some exploitative or bigoted philosophy that oppresses people or excludes them from educational opportunities? No, quite the opposite:

Quote:Dr. Dalton wanted to make sure that others didn’t have to go through the grueling workload and inflexible hours he endured, losing precious and irretrievable family time in the process. Dr. Dalton believed that people learn better when they aren’t subjected to unnecessary and excessive stress. He believed they should be able to schedule their own time, and work at their own pace. He believed that it should be possible for the student to earn a business degree whether they were stationed on a military base far from home, assigned overseas by their company, recovering from an injury, or on maternity leave. Moreover, he witnessed too many instances in which his friends and colleagues, from all walks of life, were effectively locked out of obtaining a higher degree because of a then, arcane educational system, the access to which was rigid and discriminatory.

Are they competing successfully with the wealthy, entrenched higher ed cartel by offering similar products for substantially less money?

Ummmmmmmm, yeah......

I though about writing something but I think its better to ignore assholes like this rather than give them attention.
Klempner is an attention whore and the more you pay attention to him the more important he feels.

In fact Bear actually defended those little schools as good and decent efforts in his guides, but, of course, he now claims he never did such things. Rolleyes But all one has to do is buy one of the old guides on E-Bay and read it. There is no doubt that Bear is the most anti Bear guy around, if, that is, you match his past statements to those of today. It's really pretty amazing. Sometimes when I re-read one of those old Bear guides it makes me think he has changed into an all new person. A person I would not like to meet or know.

By the way. Bear's little Greenwich office (Hawaii) was 5000 square feet, but, here's the kicker. Greenwich only occupied about 1/2 of the upstairs offices. So, as usual, he didn't practice what he now preaches.

CPU is an outstanding distance learning university. It has been state approved for many years, and is legal and valid. I can't believe that Klempner/Bear spends his days, posting rubbish like this on YouTube. This guy is the biggest joke on the net. To call him duplicitous would be an understatement, and I'm trying to be charitable.

Pretty funny....John Bear/Klempner had interest in a school in California, called Columbia Pacific University. It was shut down years ago for being a flagrant "DEGREE MILL"....yet I never hear him impugn that "GREAT" institution of higher learning...LOL! I guess he just doesn't approve of the GOOD, VALID, LEGAL, STATE APPROVED POST SECONDARY INSTITUTIONS, that remain open, because they continue to provide outstanding, "REAL" education to it's students. One outstanding school comes to mind, California Pacific University.

If I am not mistaken, Bear claims that the school was legitimate when he founded it but after he sold it, that school became a "diploma mill"

So my advice is this: Don't buy any school founded by John Bear or he will reward you by calling your school a mill.

In the introduction to one of Bear/Klempner's "guide to distance learning", it states,(among other things), that Bear/Klempner "worked" as a prison psychologist. In his curriculum vitae, it states that he has an undergrad degree in psych from UC Berkley....how does this qualify him to become a prison psychologist, in this state or any other? In order to practice as a psychologist in California, it would necessitate a PhD in this behavioral science as well as a license, neither of which Bear/Klempner seems to possess. I don't think that a doctorate in journalism allow's a person to practice as a "prison psychologist".This guy loves to toot his horn..he just loves to impress...but when the content of his "rubbish" is analyzed it doesn't hold water. Gee.....I wonder if California used to hire undergrad degree holders in psychology, to practice this discipline in our correctional institutions? Looks like Bear/Klempner was exposed again for telling tale tales in his book...I noticed it is not mentioned anywhere else on the net. What do you expect from a guy who ran Millard Fillmore U....ROTFLMAO!

Work release?

Ha ha, old joke, been done several times, one of which appeared here:

John Bear Wrote:I just responded briefly to decimon's "Work release?" comment, which was funnier than he/she realized -- since I did do my required psychology internship for Cal with a prison psychologist with his office in San Quentin (Leon Tabory). But contrary to the reports on other forums, I did go home every afternoon. Indeed that closeup look at prison life for one semester would be enough to dissuade anyone from a life of crime.

Good liars usually weave a little truth into the story, so they have a plausible explanation in case they get caught. In this case the "work" was an internship, apparently not a paying job. Honest people usually distinguish to avoid the appearance of overstating their qualifications. That Klempner did not gives you abundant insight into his character.
