A Google translation, for those of us who don't habla the frog lingo:

Quote:Vienna Justice
School Robert de Sorbon: the director sentenced
15/10/2011 05:32

The founder of this private school, formerly based in Trimouille and issuing degrees without providing courses, was convicted of fraud.

Christian Prade, 64, loud and assurance that the university claims to be. Former of the extreme-right West and co-founder in 1968 of GUD, the student movement for breaking the leftist, it is by no means impressed by the criminal court, a prosecution for fraud. French justice, he knows. In the 90s, he has been convicted of embezzlement against URSSAF and tax, to four years in prison (never purged and prescribed today).

VAE American sauce

Now Franco-American (he took across the Atlantic as John Thomas) Christian Prade was recycled in education. More precisely the business of international credentials. On both sides of the Atlantic, he created an intricate network of institutions to allow non-graduates get through the validation of acquired experience, a parchment which may open the doors of a university.

School Robert de Sorbon still works

In this nebula, the Graduate School University Robert de Sorbon is that which concerns the justice of Poitou, before which Christian Prade appeared Thursday. Why Poitiers? Because at the time when the authorities of Education began to wonder about the strange school activities on behalf subtly evoking the prestigious Sorbonne, its official headquarters was a farmhouse Trimouille.

This is where the police in early 2007 discovered the lack of room teaching in the fields. And for good reason: the unique activity of the school was (and remains, since the latter, now based in Vendeuvre-lès-Nancy, still works) to receive diplomas upon deliberation of a jury, on payment a € 550 right

machine to recycle

The subtlety of the system was to give some credence to scraps of paper issued on application by passing in a juicy recycling machine called AUAP, based in Sarasota, Florida. Amusing detail: if the school Robert de Sorbon is led by American John Thomas, AUAP is drivée by the French ... Christian Prade!
AUAP Mission: to validate the application of the various American universities diplomas awarded worldwide. We guess that the pseudo-degrees of Robert de Sorbon enjoyed all the kindness of AUAP. The fault lay in the name of degrees: license, master's, doctorates: one as many titles as National Education and institutions are authorized by law to issue. Today, moreover, the School Robert de Sorbon awards do more than "certificates."

No complaint

But it is true that none of the "graduates" has complained: "Go to a Venezuelan explain what it means to bring civil actions in Poitiers, there will understand nothing," sighs the Attorney Eric Virbel. It claimed and obtained the conviction of Christian Prade heavy fine: € 15,000. The court does not order the publication of this judgment, requested by the prosecutor, or any professional prohibition against the condemned. Robert de Sorbon retain the right to graduate whom he pleases.

Not that this translation helps explain too much about any of this, although this likely is the fault of the article's author rather than the translation. Sounds like Prade's biggest "crime" is his political viewpoint, not anything to do with his business.

Considering that he awards degrees based on PLA (which appears to be perfectly legal in France), it seems irrelevant whether he operates out of a barn or a cupboard instead of 10,000 acre campus with a faculty lounge, student union and football field.

As they say (and as it was discussed long ago ) ESRDS offers "certificates"...in other words they keep to the gray (legal) area of the bargain.
After all, it is an ASSOCIATION...if the courts dissolve ESRDS, they should do the same to ALL associations under that provision, which is not feasible.
If my "friends of the cod" association wants to print me a certificate in accounting, well...
Their certificates are purely novelty items...paratrooper ID, black belt ID...
The important is Prade was fined on the grounds of escroquerie -fraud-.

By using this argument to defend what clearly is a crassly commercial operation by unscrupulous individuals offering instant phony credentials for money, the argument gets discredited when applied to truly legitimate cases.
You can't defend both DETC and ESRDS (and other dodgy diploma-by-wire operations) on the same grounds.
And let's make no mistakes: they are an ASSOCIATION offering CERTIFICATES, while they tell you they are a UNIVERSITY like any other offering DEGREES like any other: that's the fraud part.

TESC, COSC, Excelsior--the "Easy 3" of the RA world--do what Prade does. Is the problem what they do or just who is doing it? In Yorp "right wing" means anyone who would prefer that their country not be turned into a third world socialist sewer. If Prade was genuflecting at the altar of "diversity" and PC would he be having these problems? I kinda doubt it.

Prade is guilty of "escroquerie," but RdS is as pure as the driven snow? How does that work? Obviously something is missing from the story. The author was too busy dumping dirt on Prade to bother getting the facts.

If you don't want an RdS "degree," don't buy one. If your business doesn't accept RdS "degrees," that's your business. Why is this a problem? RA LSU's Mo Claiborne scored a 4 (out of 50) on the Wonderlic Test. How does a "student athlete" Big GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig GrinBig Grin manage that? Prade would seem to be the least of higher ed's problems. The fact that he draws so much attention from The Man suggests the issue is something other than his little PLA/VAE operation.

I don't give a sh!t what color was Prade's armband.
Besides, who knows how many armbands Prade may have switched over the decades as many like him did.
They are frauds and lying about it, period.
All that nonsense about being what? Another French university like many? Then want to use the accreditation cartel mafia punchline on me?
All that nonsense about providing what? Another French degree like many? Is that freedom in academia to you?
It stinks from head to toe.
Choose a punchline and stick to it, but it can't be "hey! I'm just another mainstream accredited guy", then "oh, that's stuff for the accreditation mafia".
Then they laugh all their way to the bank along with Rufus Neghro the quarterback...except Rufus gets a diploma with some market value, you a "certificate" (just that? PFFT!) from a granary in the French Alps.
You are out €500...Ebay degrees come much cheaper...
Come on, if the man operating an accredited school had been busted for fraud, there would be fireworks to connect the dots...now it's all a political setup...
They lied about themselves and their standing?
Why?
If it's so innocent, why all that gobbledigook and esoteric pinyin?
Answer: to fool some unsuspecting idiot who doesn't understand French into believing a milled degree is finally oytre chause in France? For €500? PFFT!
No wonder after all this clintonese people think DETC schools are degree mills.

Hamster – you write just the same sort of nonsense that G-G, JB, Puffman, et al, write, but you know far less about the subject. And what you write is more offensive than what emanates from the DD Team.
What you write appears to be a deep seated obsession with De Sorbon and a hatred for its founder – who was a multi-millionaire before he founded De Sorbon.
For your information De Sorbon does not operate from a farm house, but even if it did – so what. I’ve just been in Auckland and on Lincoln Road counted 48 business operations being run for urban houses!
Instead of venting your spleen on De Sorbon take a look at ALMEDA!

So YOU say Prade got billions...glad you are in the position to know. I am no accountant and thus I can't know. What difference does it make TO YOU? I can't answer for you, but none to me: I am still parking cars for a living.
And it seems Prade hasn't much left of his billions, if all he does is what newspapers write.

Really? Now they are knowledgeable? Glad to know the party line changed...PFFT!

My suggestion is that you should grow up: I stopped worshiping others when I was say 11yo.
So yesterday it was platinum mainstream accreditation ( Comoros, USA, France...god knows where else), now it is mom&pop basement sweatshop...rugged petites et moyennes entreprises...PFFT!

I'll say it again...choose a punchline and stick to it...it can't be a little non-traditional basement operation one day, and just another French university awarding another French degree the next.
It can't be accreditation mafia one day and they being part of it the next day.

You haven't answered this question yet...
Now THEY say that UNIVERSITE' is a designation reserved for the accreditation cartel mafia... UNIVERSITE' FRANCOPHONE ROBERT DE SORBON folded...what are they telling former clients...ehm...students?
Remember all that claptrap about UFRDS being just another mainstream French university?
What NOW?
Does that pose any ethical qualms?

In spite of Mr Ham De Sorbon is now in its 8th year and has graduates in just about every part of the world and increasing numbers in New Zealand, where VAE has been in vogue for well over two decades.
Best plan for you Mr Ham is to 'test' the De Sorbon process, but I'm sure you won't - having seen your mate G-G run for cover when invited to become a De Sorbon jury member!

At least you have some honesty, but your unhealthy obsession with De Sorbon is hard to figure. De Sorbon is legally licensed to operate and is very successful, with De Sorbon degrees now being widely accepted in – industry, commerce, education, etc. I think it's the VAE principle that you don't understand.
