PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona - On Tuesday, the 13-member Board of Trustees for Northcentral University (NCU) voted to relocate their headquarters from Prescott Valley to Southern California.

The existing headquarters in Prescott Valley, located on University Avenue, will remain operational as an NCU campus, according to NCU Provost and Chief Academic Officer Scott Burrus, who noted that NCU retains a lease on the property through 2017.

"NCU has no intent of moving its headquarters immediately," Burrus added. "It might be something that we do over the long term."

"NCU is proud of its history in Prescott, Prescott Valley and Scottsdale, and we will continue to have operations in Arizona throughout and after the transition," Burrus said.

While the headquarters will be moving, none of the area's 54 employees, including online teaching staff, will be affected by the change, Burrus said.

"Some of our PV folks are also virtual. You have some people in the office and some people who live in Prescott or Prescott Valley that work primarily from home. There have been no discussions about any job losses in PV," Burrus said.

Burrus said the board determined Southern California would be a good fit for an online education provider.

"Southern California represents the best place for the university to continue to recruit faculty, build a graduate culture and take advantage of the academic and technology communities located in that region," Burrus said.

The university employs faculty and team members from around the world, including locations in Greece and Dubai. Overall, the university employs more than 900 people.

Burrus said the university would continue to be a strong presence in the quad-city area. The university will donate $50,000 to a number of Prescott area organizations on Monday, May 19, including Yavapai Big Brother Big Sisters, the Hungry Kids project, Boys and Girls Club and others.

The comments by the locals are interesting. Looks like NCU treated the PV taxpayers the same way they treat their students, screwing them up one side and down the other. Wonder what city is next on their sucker list?

Ever since the leadership change, the college has slowly migrated from something local that drove jobs and the local economy to Scottsdale, now California. Imagine this will be the last infusion of cash to local organizations. And all future recruitment will be California folks.

finally the truth comes out. When this project was proposed, people pointed out what was going to happen. Tarkowski, Gary Marks, and the council went into damage control, an got it passed. What is going to happen to all the money that change hands? Payoffs buyouts ect. It smells like another stinker for the taxpayer. Just like the fairgrounds debacle.

They should consider raising tuition fees, as the tax rates in California are astronomical!
