Gollum Defames Charter.edu

The self-appointed sphincter of higher education, UIUC physics professor George Gollin (aka George D. Gollin, aka George Dana Gollin) is at it again.  

He believes no one and nothing should be allowed to exist in higher education without first passing through his socialist sphincter of scrutiny.

But his outrageous statements about the good folks who run the charter.edu domain name are about to land him in a fat defamation lawsuit.

Here is Gollum's defamatory post, from October 3, 2007:

This post clearly is defamatory on its face, in that it accuses charter.edu of engaging in illegal conduct.  

Now charter.edu is standing up to Gollum and demanding that he remove his defamatory post.

Professor Gollin, I'm writing to you with regards to the posting and comments you made on DegreeDiscussion.com on Oct 7, 2007 about Charter.edu. Namely:

It was brought to our attention by several schools, and we consider it to be libel as it gives appearance that Charter.edu is engaged in illegal operations.

Charter.edu is a grandfathered domain, whose status is legally protected by the Agreement between EDUCAUSE and the U.S. Department of Commerce:
"All .edu names in existence as of October 29, 2001 are grandfathered, regardless of current or past eligibility requirements". Furthermore, Educause regulations stipulate that: "Eligibility for the .edu domain is content-independent. Educause neither places nor enforces restrictions on the content or use of the .edu domain. Holders of .edu domain names are free to establish policies that limit or otherwise manage the use and content of resources within their own domain as they see fit."

We kindly request that you remove the above-stated libelous posting on DegreeDiscussion.com.

Being a socialist fuckwit, Gollum is opposed to charter schools.  Charter schools "are publicly funded elementary or secondary schools in the United States that have been freed from some of the rules, regulations, and statutes that apply to other public schools in exchange for some type of accountability for producing certain results...   Charter schools provide an alternative for educators, families and communities who are dissatisfied with educational quality and school district bureaucracies."

Likewise, as typical of the entrenched higher education cartel, he fears accountability in education because he knows that the existing accreditation system pays it only lip-service.

Once again, Gollum is using a bogus "diploma mill" issue to attempt to advance his personal socialist agenda.  He's trying to eradicate access to the specialized education internet domain names that charter schools now enjoy.

Let's hope that charter.edu takes this matter to its next logical step, and brings a defamation action against Gollum and his employer, UIUC.  Gollum continues to claim his irresponsible rampage is in furtherance of his duties at UIUC, and that his tortious conduct is performed with the university's blessing.  It seems only fitting that the taxpayers of Illinois should find their deep pockets at risk as a consequence of Gollum's rash, immature behavior.

I for one do not appreciate George Dana Gollin's use of such abusive harsh words he used when communicating with CHARTER.edu That "Leave It To Beaver" slang of his should not be tollerated. Use of words like "gee" and "golly" are uncalled for and take away from his esteemed status as a University of Illinois professor and self-appointed crusader of all which is right.

well, *.edu domains are fucked up already, with countless dodgy schools and outright mills sporting one, unlike say .ac.uk which has always been handled properly.
The problem already is not what the domain says, but who or what the provider is.
I at times run searches and am flooded with leads from various providers of DE.
Unexpectedly, say Open university or Athabasca rarely show up among the first 100 leads, which says all.
Search engines make money out of preferred or sponsored leads and massaged searches.
I might find a rough diamond in the mud, and I did last time with a small, barely known yet fully accredited UK university, or I might find...mud...that is the plethora of Warnboroughs who want me to believe that they are "accredited" by ISO 9000 ( a mere quality standard good for pig slaughterhouses or bottled water plants ), or Phoenix and Capella wanting me to believe they are Oxford second edition.
Until people won't learn to be in charge (a simple web search or a couple phone calls might do ), big brother, rabbi Marx ideology etc are not going to help but just pile up mountains of paperwork easily circumvented by those with money.
I still remember how the "experts" around these "eminent" boards were still gawking in front of the Robert de Sorbon fraud, while people with half a brain knew it was a fraud.

THE SOLUTION TO THE SO CALLED IMMIGRATION PROBLEM.

Being everyone wants to claim that being against Mexicans crossing our borders is a racial issue when anyone speaks out. Let’s get that out of the way first. I attended a minority high school that was 98% non-white so don’t even attempt to claim I am racial. This is a national infrastructure (healthcare, welfare, forced fair pay for US jobs) and homeland security issue.

Let’s have all 20 million illegal aliens guard the border 24/7 and pay them American minimum wage (more than they are making now off the books illegally). If they let any Mexicans and/or relatives in, we send them and all of their family members in the USA back to Mexico. This includes any children they had while illegally here who were made instant US citizens. After five years, allow them to apply for citizenship at the end of the line with all people who are now waiting. This will teach them a viable vocation and potential new career (not just a job) as a Federal Agent, Federal Security Officer, mall security guard, bank guard, hospital security, homeland security officer etc. While guarding the border, let’s call them Federal Security Officers. They presently refer to the security guards at the US Federal buildings as Federal Police.

Don't laugh security guards can be security supervisors and then security managers/directors, in some major “Fortune 500” companies they can make a minimum annual salary of $60K and more.

Toss this silly fence idea out the window. You build a fence it will have to have ground digging electronic protection and fence climbing electronic sensors and people will just build taller ladders to climb the new fence. It should be an electronic virtual fence that covers 20 to 30 feet deep from the border to the USA in the ground, backed up by infrared lighting and motion sensor lighting that lights them up as they try to breach our borders.

These same border patrol Mexicans who are in the USA illegally can increase security at the Canadian border and augment US Immigrations Customs Enforcement (ICE) on busses, airports, trains and supplement the US Coastguard on our waterways. Five years of service and then get in line. With 20 million, that could give us solid boarder control at 5 million every five years for 20 years.

Employers who presently employ illegal aliens at a below minimum wage rate or off the books need to be fined, lose their business license and jailed, period! All MS-13 and other Mexican based gang members need to be sent to Mexico and exempt from this program.

People from other countries who arrived on a student visa which has expired need to be tracked down and sent back to their home country (deported) and added to the no-fly list.

I'm sick of these illegal aliens being referred to as an "immigration problem!" What part of ILLEGAL is not understood? Immigration is the legal immigration of people from other countries coming to the US legally and applying to become citizens.

That would make sense in therory, but we can not all think that these 20 million Mexicans are working for Home Depot or other established busineses. Most are working off the books for Jane and Joe citizen as their housekeeper, gadener, small mom and pop companies that don't pay taxes which drywall and refurbish houses, etc. Those not working are collecting welfare and food stamps on our dime as well as us taxpayers paying all of their medical bills and in some cases, hospitals across our country are closing down due to all of this free healthcare given to those illegal Mexicans with no helth insurance.

Then we are not even touching on the fact that all of those ILLEGALS are sending money home to Mexico and other countries from all their hard work here in the USA. Mnay of the Arab corner stores have been turning in for sending pennies back to their home countries where their people use them to make bullets. How's that for a kick in the teeth!
