How long will Degreediscussion and Gus stay afloat?
#1
Question
Things are not looking very good for Gustavo "Gus" Sainz, his business, his finances and the future of DD. I feel bad for his family for what they are having to go through and their close friends for having to see them suffer. I'm certainly not one to gloat over the misfortunes of others and won't make an exception even in the case of my longtime nemesis, Gus Sainz.

As bad as I feel, though, I still think that this subject warrants a poll. Considering the fact that Sainz has continually bashed this site and barred its members from DD, the membership of DLTruth should be allowed to express their views on Sainz and his financial disaster.

I have no animosity toward Sainz. I don't like the way he over-reacted to everything. I don't like the way he stalked people. I don't like the way he runs a website that encourages stalking. I don't like the fact that he banned everyone who disagrees. I don't like the way he brutally critiqued master and doctoral programs even though he even lacked even a bachelors degree.

Perhaps a greater power has a way of letting people know he's displeased - Chapter 7. Until Sainz does proper penance and asks for foregiveness he's a lost soul. Hell, if he just quit stalking people, he'd quit pissing everyone off. It must be strange to run a forum and look around and see that all the people who agree with you are the worst bunch of losers on the web.

Don't hold your breath on that one.

What I wonder is why--since the handwriting has been on the wall for some time--he doesn't just file bankruptcy and get it over with? Is he just egotistical enough to think he can talk his way out of it? Is he worried that people will laugh (again) at his hypocrisy?

Or does he have some assets hidden away somewhere he's afraid to reveal, but can't or won't use to square up with his creditors? He knows if he doesn't declare all his assets on his bankruptcy petition he'll get a free ticket to Club Fed. But he might figure he can dance around it with his creditors, at least until they drag him in for a judgement debtor exam.

The only valid point Goose ever made was that a non-traditional school's financial condition is an important consideration. Obviously if the school isn't going to be around in 20 years to verify your degree it's not really worth the money. But that's true whether the degree is RA, NA or none of the above.

The amusing irony is that while Goose was pointing fingers at other people's finances, it was own empty wallet that was his undoing. And not the first time one of the great "mill busters" got hoisted on his own limp petard.

I feel bad for Gus myself. Sounds like he put his money in his business, probably his dream, and fell flat on his ass. How he fell flat by being in the recession proof health care related industries is hard to say.? As I have started several businesses myself, I can see how not only failing in the business is miserable but losing your house when you have a young family is awful. This has to be one if not the worst times of his life and I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Including Gus. Perhaps he would've been better served doing a real Business BA degree and not a short cut 110 day Humanities degree but who knows.

My olive branch to Gus is relatively short however because if you look at his ball busting posts, actions, and behaviours over the years you see a vile and despicable human being. One that doesn't mind his own business. One of hypocrisy. One that relished and celebrated other's misfortunes and worse, actively sought their misfortune in inexcusable deliberate manners. One that lies. One that does harm in his twisted guise of "public service". All the while having an equally degenerate and twisted fan club cheering him along the way.

How perverse their world is.

Gus the winds are blowing hard back in your face because you are not as smart as you think you are, like we've said you weren't all along. I don't wish those harsh winds to blow back on you like they are. Perhaps starting today you will no longer wish that on others. But I won't hold my breath and neither will lots of folks you have tortured over the years.

Cheers,

The only people who never fail are those who never get off their lazy asses and do something.

But few people actively run around trying to cause other people to fail in business, or destroy their lives. Gus and that sorry little collection of shit stirrers try to do just that, and call it a hobby.

So it doesn't bother me too much that what goes around came around and bit Gus in the ass. Instant karma.

Yeah, you would have thought that Gus would have taken a lesson from the Mark Israel accident. I guess that the only thing he saw was one less competitor for him for the title of Mr. know-it-all, Obnoxious DL Asshole Extraordinaire. Israel got his reward and it appears that Gus will as well. (and pretty soon)

Nothing specific about Gus but having hidden but accessible financial assets may not be a bad thing. If the banks see loss of huge amounts they may be willing to settle for a pittance and everyone's happy. Just don't do any declarations that could get you into trouble. Home mortgages are tougher because of the large amount of cash necessary to encourage the creditor to walk away. They may take a $50,000 bath but it isn't going to be $300,000.

It is interesting that no one at DD seems concerned about Gus' impending financial disembowelment. There have been some subtle changes, Bear and Bomber Douglas are posting more at DI and Ted Heiks appears to have followed suit. (but Ted posts at all the various fora, except DL Truth) Jack Tracey has even posted less frequently but otherwise it is business as usual.

Doesn't anyone at DD have any balls whatsoever? Sad
