There were lots of schools worse than KWU.  They were a target because of size and success.  Why didn't they just fall back to California to bide time?  If they suspected they were good enough for accreditation, they might actually have gained California approval when it restarts.

It seems like a pretty big business to walk away from.

According to CampaignMoney.com, KW/WNU's Paul Saltman donated $5,000 to the Wyoming Republican Party in 2006 and $5,000 in 2002.  

That was ten large down the dumper, which I suspect is why Mr. Saltman pulled the plug on Wyoming so abruptly.  He's probably writing new checks to pols in a new venue as we speak.  

As they used to say (and probably still do) about the legal system in Chicago, it's not who gets to the judge, it's who gets to the judge last.  Tough to outbid a cartel with multi-billion dollar endowments.
