Terrorists are now going to Anal-approved Oregon government colleges before they try to blow up innocent Americans, and not one of those icky diploma mills.

The teenager accused of attempting to bomb a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland, Ore., was acting on his own initiative and not at the direction of any foreign terrorist organization, a law enforcement official said Saturday.

Mohamed Osman Mohamud hatched the plan on his own to use a cell phone to detonate what he believed was an explosive-filled van at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony Friday, according to the official, who wasn't authorized to discuss the case publicly and spoke on a condition of anonymity.

The official said Mohamud was very committed to the plot and alone planned the details, including where to park the van for the maximum number of casualties. Authorities say Mohamud sent bomb components to undercover FBI agents who he believed were assembling the explosive device, but the agents supplied a fake that Mohamud tried to detonate twice via his phone.

The official said agents began investigating Mohamud after receiving a tip from someone who was concerned about the teenager. The official declined to provide any more detail about the relationship between Mohamud and that source.

The FBI monitored Mohamud's e-mail. They found that he was in e-mail contact with people overseas and was asking how he could travel to Pakistan and join the fight for jihad, according to an FBI affidavit.

Mohamud, a student at [WASC-accredited] Oregon State University, e-mailed a friend living in Pakistan who had been a student in Oregon in 2007-2008, according to the official. The FBI's affidavit says the friend in Pakistan referred him to another associate, but gave him an invalid e-mail address that Mohamud tried repeatedly to use unsuccessfully. The official said FBI agents saw that as an opportunity and e-mailed Mohamud in response, claiming to be associates of his friend, the former student.

The friend Mohamud was e-mailing was in Pakistan's northwest frontier province, an area known to harbor terrorists, but the law enforcement official said there is no indication that any foreign terrorist group was behind the plot.

The FBI affidavit says the undercover agent first met Mohamud in person on July 30 and asked what he would do for the cause of jihad. The agent suggested that Mohamud might want to spread Islam to others, continue his studies to help the cause overseas, raise money, become "operational" or become a martyr. Mohamud immediately responded that he wanted to become "operational," but didn't know how and needed training, the affidavit said.

The affidavit says when Mohamud was asked what he meant by being "operational," he responded that he wanted to put together an explosion. The undercover agent said he could introduce him to an explosive expert and asked Mohamud to research potential targets.

At a second meeting on Aug. 19 at a Portland hotel, the agent brought a second undercover agent; Mohamud allegedly told them had selected the tree lighting at Portland's Pioneer Square for the bombing.

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Anger over a Somali-born teen's failed plan to blow up a van full of explosives during Portland's Christmas tree lighting ceremony erupted in arson today when a fire damaged an Islamic center frequented by the suspect, authorities said.

Police don't know who started the blaze or exactly why, but they believe the Islamic center in Corvallis was targeted because terror suspect Mohamed Osman Mohamud, 19, occasionally worshipped there.

Yosof Wanly, the imam at the Salman Alfarisi Islamic Center, said he was advised by friends to take his family out of their home because of the potential threat of hate crime, and members decried the alleged arson attack. No one was injured, and the fire was contained to one room.

The fire was reported at 2:15 a.m., and evidence at the scene led authorities believe it was set intentionally, said Carla Pusateri, a fire prevention officer for the Corvallis Fire Department.

After daybreak, members gathered at the Corvallis center, where a broken window had been boarded up.

"I've prayed for my family and friends, because obviously if someone was deliberate to do this, what's to stop them from coming to our homes and our schools?" said Mohamed Alyagouri, a 31-year-old father of two, who worships at the center. "I'm afraid for my children getting harassed from their teachers, maybe from their friends."

What’s to stop them? Well, Mohamed, if you were even the least little bit curious about the laws and customs of your new country, you might have heard about this thing we have here in the US of A called the Second Amendment, which gives you the right to bear arms to prevent just such troublesome occurrences.

Mohamed O. Mohamud, arrested Friday for plotting to attack Portland's Christmas tree lighting ceremony with a van full of explosives, was investigated by Oregon State Police for an alleged date rape in 2009 on the Oregon State University campus.

Mohamud, 19, avoided charges after a woman filed a sexual assault complaint against him claiming she drank something that caused her to black out before having sex with Mohamud in an OSU dormitory room in October 2009, reports the daily Oregonian.

An analysis of the woman's urine failed to show any controlled substances or common pharmaceuticals, reports the Associated Press.

Although Mohamud and other witnesses claim the encounter -- which took place on a top bunk with others in the dorm room -- was consensual, at least one witness, mutual friend Brian Gatimu, told police he attempted to stop Mohamud from taking the woman home, reports the Oregonian.

Mohamud told police that he walked the woman home after the encounter, adding: "On the walk back, when she asked if we had sex, I thought she must have been more drunk than I thought."

Sounds like bomber boy wasn’t packing enough equipment to make much of an impression on his drunken slut girl friend. Just another needle dick trying to compensate for his shortcomings by planting bombs or getting successful women entrepreneurs jailed.
