Remember when Klempner posted at the gay boy porn front about getting a copy of the list of St. Regis "students"?
Quote:Incidentally, anyone who wants the very detailed list of St. Regis students (more info than on the list the newspaper made available) can request one, citing the Freedom of Information Act, from Washington Asst. Attorney General Jack Zurlini, jackz@atg.wa.gov
http://forums.degreeinfo.com/showthread....post280368
Turns out Zurlini is in cahoots with none other than faux G-Man and cyberstalker George Gollin (George D. Gollin, George Dana Gollin):
Quote:Professor Gollin will use time as a Center for Advanced Study associate to focus on two projects. The first, centered on his current program of particle physics research, is to refine the design of a novel calibration system for the Mu2e experiment, currently proposed for installation at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. The second, a continuation of his service work in higher education policy, is to co-author (with Assistant Attorney General Jack Zurlini) a book recounting the nine-year trajectory and spectacular immolation of the "St. Regis University" diploma mill, and the resulting increase in international attention to the problem of degree mills.
http://illinois.edu/pc/article/1353/19343
So if you trusted Klempner and wrote to get the list, Zurlini got your personal info and now can pass it on directly to his new butt buddy Gollum.
Remember also it was Zurlini who distributed to the general public the original student list that included SSNs for many of the students.
So if you are a State of Washington resident, do you feel a lot safer now knowing that Dixie is in jail while your public servants are selling books for personal gain and handing your personal info over to the likes of George Gollin?

| RA Colleges' Obsession With Credentials |

There were three ads in my Sunday paper from two different RA colleges seeking deans for their respective departments. All three ads required a doctorate in the field along with other usual requirements (experience, etc.).
Why is so much importance placed on credentials? If my memory serves me correctly UofP received a lot of crap because many of their faculty members didn't have terminal degrees. The emphasis just seems to be largely placed on credentials BEFORE any other criteria. Why not examine the individual as a whole? My best friend has a professor in college that was his absolute favorite and he told me this professor put in for the dean of the business school but was rejected because he did not have a doctorate. I realize this story is entirely anecdotal and could appear to be entirely made up to fit my own agenda, but I'm guessing this isn't exactly an isolated incident.
Does anyone else have any thoughts on this?

Meritus U is totally legit. It is approved by the only possible accreditor available, the NB government. They take such things seriously.
Another usual error is stating that Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada is an accreditor in any form. Meritus does not qualify for membership in this group because it is for-profit.
The program is unknown and as such may not be well received but it won't be inadequate. Why are people so willing to comment on things they know absolutely nothing about?

Uncle Janko really went after vinny123 and ShotoJuku because of their interest in DL PsyD programs. In the interest of full disclosure, I've had words, such as they are, with both gentlemen but the air has long since been cleared. They are typical of the type of student for whom DL is now a viable option. They are adult professionals with legitimate academic credentials who want to obtain their doctorates without quitting their current jobs and enrolling as a full-time student.
I'm not really sure what has Unc all wound up, perhaps a touch of jealousy?

Harvard Endowment Falls 22%, Poised for Worst Return
Quote:By Julie Ziegler
Dec. 3 (Bloomberg) -- Harvard University’s endowment decreased 22 percent, or $8 billion, in the first four months of fiscal 2009, putting the fund on course to have its worst performance in at least four decades.
The decline came in the four months through October, according to a letter dated yesterday by President Drew Faust and Executive Vice President Edward Forst. The endowment, the biggest U.S. education fund, had totaled $36.9 billion on June 30 after gaining 8.6 percent in fiscal 2008. The worst annual return that Harvard, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, has recorded in at least 40 years was a loss of 12.2 percent in 1974.
The 22 percent decline, excluding adjustments for real estate and private equity, outperformed the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index of stocks, which fell 24 percent during the same period with dividends included. Faust said the school is making budget plans based on a possible 30 percent investment loss for the year ending June 30. Valuations for the fund’s real estate and private equity holdings have yet to be updated.
“The severe turmoil in the world’s financial markets has affected all major asset classes in which the endowment is invested,” Faust and Forst wrote in the letter. The university also plans to issue “a substantial amount” of taxable fixed- rate debt to help support research and financial aid “as we work to absorb the impact of anticipated losses in revenue,” according to the letter.
Colleges and universities across the U.S. are struggling. The University of Virginia at Charlottesville’s endowment declined about 20 percent, to $4.2 billion, in the four months through October. ...
We all should struggle on $4.2 billion. Where is George Gollin to protect all these billion dollar endowments? Isn't there someone he can get arrested for this?

It's probably no surprise that there hasn't been much action at dlwhatever recently. It's just got to be really difficult to keep posting when you've got nothing to say. Added to that, they're probably both out doing their Christmas shopping. Remember, when you're buying those new mittens the preferred color is teal. Jack

I've always had doubts about men who know what colour teal is.
