Think that it's the first time the 'Obama' routine is pulled? Think again...
Posted by: ham - 11-05-2008, 08:15 PM - Forum: General Education Discussions - Replies (43)

They've tried fake cowboys, dancing bears, third-rate actors, now they want to try a 'green' or 'red' mulatto...
I wish them good luck.
It was predictable enough, but of the sad kind of predictability after all of Obama's 'mistakes', 'parting with (wrong) friends' and befuddled TV declaration of Muslim faith.
I think, however, that old Bush was the only one in recent times to go for a third term in a row for the same party...it was just predictable it'd end like this.
For those who think it is a brand new trick, it's not.
In Italy around 1994-96 there was already such sleight of hand.
MISS ITALIA is the biggest nationwide beauty pageant, first run under Fascism to celebrate 'Italian beauty' (whatever that is, it's supposedly in the 'white' color zone ).

Now there had been severe, ongoing political crisis since 1992 in Italy, that had led to the collapse of a regime having lasted since 1945. A new copy of the same regime would soon be reinstated, but that's another matter.

A new political party (Lega Nord) at that time pushed what servile journalists referred to as 'racist and secessionist' agenda.
Now as an insult to that party, its agenda and its (at the time) raising consensus, a mulatto woman was 'politically propelled' to win the beauty contest, with servile journalists dancing and celebrating throughout the tiresome weeks in which the contest had become a political battle field.
I still remember plenty of first page, AAA+ newspaper or prime time TV tirades by intellectuals and other regime hirelings celebrating the upcoming defeat and ridicule of 'racist secessionists' and -such was usually the punchline- what better way to celebrate than the election of a 'black' top beauty queen?
Much like Obama, Denny Mendez was not 'black' but a dominican mulatto misnamed 'black' for political reasons, given that she was 'italian' only because her mother had married an Italian citizen who wasn't her biological father.
Political crisis had thus found a sublimation in that farce.

Now some may object that a beauty contest, however important, in some minor country has nothing in common with the election of a president of a major country...think again.
It's just the 'billion dollars' Hollywood copy of some minor foreign production...not the first time it happens, not the last.
Michael Jackson was sentenced to pay hefty compensation for having stolen a song from Italian songwriter Albano Carrisi...now how many people outside Italy know him?
'Big' with Tom Hanks was the carbon copy of an earlier Italian low-profile movie ('da grande'), and so forth.
I am sure the Denny Mendez lesson didn't escape American AAA+ analysts...[/quote]

  Is Johann AWOL from online.degree.net?
Posted by: Little Arminius - 11-04-2008, 11:10 AM - Forum: Nominees, second-stringers, others - Replies (7)

We haven't seen Johann in a few weeks. I hope that he isn't sulking about getting called out for not taking a stand on the online.degree.net forum counter issue. It really wasn't that big of a deal and certainly not significant enough to go into exile over.

Uncle J worked up about nothing ... yet again
Posted by: Little Arminius - 11-03-2008, 09:26 PM - Forum: Nominees, second-stringers, others - No Replies

Uncle Janko sounded especially cranky in this exchange with the inoffensive Brandon. Of course, Janko later qualified his comments and the discussion turned to Unc's DL studies. It's always interesting to observe how Uncle Janko manages to turn the focus of so many threads back to his opinion, his DL courses, etc.

  University of Northern Washington

Back in June of this year I requested more information from UNW. I did so out of curiosity and also because the website hasn't been updated since it was created (except for the removal of the diploma on the sample page) so I wasn't even sure if it still existed. I received a relatively quick response from my first e-mail asking for my mailing address so they could send me information by mail to which I promptly replied. Almost two months went by before I heard anything else.

Finally, in August I received a response to my e-mail that said they were going to mail and it took until mid-September to actually arrive. Once it did I sent another e-mail inquiring about the payment plans they discuss no less than twice on their website. I asked because I thought for over $1500 upfront was steep. I received a one sentence response that took almost three weeks from "John, Registrar" which said they don't offer payment arrangements.

I sent an e-mail with the links to their own website which says they DO suggesting they remove the content and I have not heard anything else and, so far, the information remains on the website.

I will say, though, that the catalog and everything else they sent was very nice and professional looking including the mailing envelope complete with logo, etc. The catalog was glossy & full-colored. Lastly, I don't know what I expected, but in my opinion UNW isn't very consumer friendly.

Levicoff's Name it and Frame it Degree
Posted by: Fort Bragg - 11-02-2008, 05:30 AM - Forum: Nominees, second-stringers, others - Replies (1)

From Degreediscussion:

http://www.degreediscussion.com/forums/v...&start=180

I love Vinny's characterization of Levicoff"s PhD as "name it and frame it." It is exactly the nature of Union doctorates at the time. You invent the doctorate, design it , and even name it. That's why Duggle's PhD has a unique title apparently outside the scope of their published offerings.

"Name it and Frame it" I wonder who invented the term? Noooo! Couldn't be Levicoff?

  Heed's Bad Ad
Posted by: Gabe - 11-01-2008, 05:49 AM - Forum: Distance Learning Discussion - Replies (2)

In a recent issue of psychology today I saw an advertisement in the back of the magazine for Heed University. It directed the reader to either send an e-mail or contact them by phone. I went straight to www.heed.edu and the website simply says "Under Construction". To me this is just unacceptable. I've not even considered Heed, but how can they expect anyone to take them seriously if they don't even have so much as a functioning website. Moreover, why even bother advertising?

George Gollin vs. Robert Ray Hill - Round 12

I can't believe that these guys are still going at it! I think that this fight wil go the full 15 rounds, only I don't think that anyone other than the participants care anymore.

DD thread - Gollin vs. Robert Ray Hill

IMHO, each of them spend entirely too much time concerned with the activities of the other.

  Gollin "Openly Gay"?
Posted by: Herbert Spencer - 10-31-2008, 09:56 AM - Forum: George Gollin - Replies (3)

Is this just the work of pranksters or is UIUC physics professor George Gollin (George D. Gollin, George Dana Gollin) really "openly gay"?

Who would know better than the perverts who edit Wikipedia?

If it is pranksters, they better take care, because the last time somebody pulled a prank on Gollin he began making death threats against the people he suspected were responsible.

As we know from the fruity mannerisms he displayed in the notorious Ezell video, George Gollin certainly exhibits every outward appearance of being a deviant.  And George Gollin's well-documented stalking and anti-social behavior suggest he is at the very least an aberrant, dissolute social pariah.

Maybe Chip and his toelicker buddies will confirm the truth about George Gollin and his deviant practices, if any.

If you look at the list of 18 winners, they are all pretty decent schools but it looks like a list of the runners up. The real best British schools that I would attend were I smart like Douglas are nowhere to be seen.
