I believe that ICS used to advertise on matchbook covers. At the age of about eight I remember being extremely impressed with the wonderful checklist of options on the matchbook cover. I asked my Dad about it and he crushed my dreams by saying that they were just taking people's money and it was worthless.

I know - it's hard to believe the old bastard had a father. Obviously in the brains department the nut doesn't fall far from the tree.

Lying Liar Gollin Lies About CCU Grad
Posted by: Herbert Spencer - 07-06-2008, 06:38 PM - Forum: George Gollin - Replies (11)

George Gollin (George D. Gollin, George Dana Gollin) continues to demonstrate both his utter lack of "expertise" in the field of distance learning--as well as his propensity for vicious, petty conduct toward people he perceives as his inferiors.

Gollin falsely cast aspersions on the legal, accredited degree held by CCU grad student Dennis Ruhl. He did so in a relatively obscure venue, the Beaumont (TX) Enterprise forum. Fortunately, Gollin's vicious slur was preserved via Google cache:

Texas HECB

One of Mr. Ruhl's degrees is from California Coast University, obtained a few years before CCU achieved DETC accreditation. He misrepresents the Texas statute as applying to the promotion procedures of the United States Army, a federal entity, and speaks incorrectly about the level of competence of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

My own experience with DETC and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has led me to respect both organizations. The disagreement between the two presents a rich opportunity for constructive dialog that will strengthen both.

This evil, malicious untruth was left standing for almost six months until discovered and refuted by the victim:

Obviously my original comment is missing but I see this from George Gollin.

"One of Mr. Ruhl's degrees is from California Coast University, obtained a few years before CCU achieved DETC accreditation"

I enrolled in California Coast University on June 30, 2003 and received my MBA from them on April 12, 2005 whereas it received accreditation about January 7, 2005. I have been working on a Doctor of Business Administration from them since that time and should be done in a few months.

I'm not sure where Gollin picked up the unaccredited part came from.
Dennis Ruhl, Alberta, Canada

This is the real George Gollin (George D. Gollin, George Dana Gollin) in action: an ignorant, lying scumbag. He will stop at nothing to attempt to discredit people who speak out against Gollin's cyberstalking and elitist harlequinade.

Apparently this site has no problem beating the stalker site. I guess our fame comes from providing real news rather than bitching and whining. The stalker site has a lot of members but I suspect most of them are a figment of Gus's imagination. They're never on line and they never post.

Diploma Mill ringleader gets maximum sentence

SPOKANE -- Dixie Randock, the ringleader of a Spokane based phony diploma racket, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

Three years was the maximum sentence that could have been imposed on Randock. Her husband Steve and daughter, Heidi Lorhan, were also scheduled to be sentenced later in the day.

All three pled guilty to conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud charges in March of this year.

Prosecutors say the family, along with associates, raked in more than $6 million while hawking phony diplomas for universities that don't exist. Operating out of their home in Mead and various businesses throughout the area, some 8200 bogus degrees were mailed from Spokane to customers around the world.

The diploma mill operators most notably fabricated St. Regis University, showing pictures of Winston Churchill's childhood home as the alleged campus and bribing Liberian officials for accreditation.

Numerous others were indicted and subsequently pled guilty to their involvement in the racket.

  Gollin Zodiac Link?
Posted by: Herbert Spencer - 07-03-2008, 02:30 AM - Forum: George Gollin - Replies (14)

When George Gollin (George D. Gollin, George Dana Gollin) decided to make death threats against Dixie and Hoyer, he used a distinctive symbol: a rifle sight superimposed over the names of his intended victims.

This was a symbol bearing eery resemblance to that used by the infamous Zodiac killer in the '60's.

Now the Zodiac killer is back in the news.  A pregnant Ft. Bragg soldier was killed and the local newspaper received a letter from someone claiming responsibility.

Quote:The letter was signed with a symbol similar to one used by the serial killer from the 1960s known as the Zodiac killer. The Observer's sources say it’s similar to a symbol found scrawled in lipstick on a mirror in Touma's hotel room.

Connection?  You be the judge.

Apparently that Union "PhD"  grants the holder psychic powers.  He knows all about everyone who posts here and even what sort of degrees they have.

I'm not Dr. Evans but I have a doctoral degree, as I believe do several others who post here.  Why does Richie not know that?  Could there be a flaw in his information gathering processes?

It appears the research methodology at the mighty RA Union Institute is confined entirely to speculation, conjecture, theory, guesswork, inference, supposition, and pulling it out of your ass.

So maybe Union really is like Princeton.  Except at Princeton you can get 15 other guys to help you write it up.

Paul: Personal Freedoms & the Internet
Posted by: Herbert Spencer - 07-01-2008, 04:45 AM - Forum: General Education Discussions - Replies (1)

Not specifically education related, but Congressman Ron Paul's weekly Texas Straight Talk column deals with some familiar issues:

Personal Freedoms and the Internet

Quote:The most basic principle to being a free American is the notion that we as individuals are responsible for our own lives and decisions.  We do not have the right to rob our neighbors to make up for our mistakes, neither does our neighbor have any right to tell us how to live, so long as we aren’t infringing on their rights.   Freedom to make bad decisions is inherent in the freedom to make good ones.  If we are only free to make good decisions, we are not really free.

Socialist ideologies blur this line between self reliance and government control because the mistakes of the individual are spread to everyone else.  Thus the government becomes very interested in your decisions and way of life, with the justification that you could make a mistake others will have to pay for.  The end result is, of course, that everyone loses privacy and control over their own lives.  Whether they realize it or not, they are no longer truly free.

This week in Congress brought some examples from both sides of the aisle on these issues of freedom and personal responsibility.  We talked about online gambling quite a bit with the markup of some legislation dealing with the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.  Now, I am not someone who enjoys throwing money away, but I am someone who understands issues of freedom and self-ownership.  As such, I strongly support the right of free people to do with their hard-earned money as they please.  Gambling is ultimately a matter of personal choice, and some people find it entertaining.  As long as I am not forced to underwrite their losses, it is none of my business what gamblers do with their time and money.

There are those that feel online gambling is morally wrong and financially irresponsible, which I do not argue with, but they also feel that because of this, the government should step in and prevent or punish people for taking part in these activities.  This attitude is anathema to the ideas of liberty.

However, most of the same anti-gambling crowd sang an entirely different tune when we discussed giving away free birth control in schools.  All of a sudden, they did not want others making decisions about their lifestyles and families, while the other side felt the need to interfere.  It is interesting that the same group that feels parents have the absolute right and ability to control how and when their kids get birth control, are powerless to monitor their internet activity and must enlist government regulatory assistance to protect against gambling or predators.  Which is it?  Are parents the ones to parent, or not?  Both sides switch their positions based on the subject at hand, but the philosophy of liberty is elegantly simple and consistent.

I can assure you of this – once the government gains a foothold into regulating the internet, even for benevolent reasons, the wonders of the free internet will soon be a thing of the past.  Parents, with modern day technology, are quite capable of monitoring their children’s internet activity.  The internet must remain a government-free zone to maintain its integrity and usefulness to modern society, and that is something for which I will continue to fight.

A Gollin post at Degreediscussion:

http://www.degreediscussion.com/forums/v...f=5&t=5708

So a fake Syrian of suspicious circumstance received a fake degree from a fake university with the intention of making a fake claim to immigrate to the US.

Real terrorists aren't so stupid. They enroll in real schools and take real flight training to allow them to crash into real buildings.

Sounds like a crock of crap to me.
